Four seasons of bushcraft
This is your chance to step away from the busyness of modern life and technology and come in to deeper connection and slowing down with ancestral skills. Join us one weekend a season for this wonderfully connective journey.
- SPRING - is about bird language, listening to the concentric rings of nature.
- SUMMER - takes us bush with natural shelters.
- AUTUMN - brings alive a whole new world of tracking. Reading the stories left on the earth.
- WINTER - build a relationship with fire skills and the way they can support us.
Tracking
Autumn is our time in the four seasons of things to get eyes to the ground and start reading the stories that the animals have left.
More than just the physical ‘what we see’, tracking takes in a greater understanding of the animals themselves and of their surroundings. We may even need our understanding of birds and plants to help us fill in more pieces of the puzzles we will try to unravel.
We will look into animal movement, identifying who left a print even if the print is not clear. We’ll cover forward motion, turning, sign tracking, and we’ll get intimate with a few tracks until our eyes hurt, in a good way.
We may touch on sensing and we will look at the tracks the non-animals leave and bring the idea of tracking alive in an everyday way.
This will add another dimension to your daily life and if you did the bird language season then this will often move side-by-side with those skills. If you didn't, we'll be running one again next spring.
